Lucrece and Gerald have had a good marriage, in Lucrece's opinion. Late in life, they had one son, as they'd planned, and now, after watching Gerald recover from heart surgery, Lucrece has reminded Gerald of another thing they'd planned on: Getting a divorce. Lucrece has made her mind up, Gerald is being dogged into it at every turn (he did promise after all) but their son, Charlie, isn't so sure he can live with it. Set on top of the roof of Lucrece and Gerald's house, on a dairy farm in the small hills of north Mississippi, Lucrece explains how Life Goes On to her son, over a bottle of peppermint whiskey, and the importance of finally winning at the game of What If.

Starkville Community Theatre was excited to present the world premiere of Paper Thin, written by our own T.K. Lee. The touching one-act was selected as the theatre’s entry into the 2018 Mississippi Theatre Association Festival. After winning several awards, including Best Production at MTA, SCT was thrilled to again advance to the Southeastern Theatre Association Conference Festival, and to present this original work on an even larger stage. The experience only got better as Paper Thin won Best Production at the 2018 SETC Festival, along with several other awards including Special Recognition for Outstanding New Work for T.K. Lee. In addition to Best Production at MTA, Paper Thin won Best Scenic Design and Individual Achievement in Acting Awards for Madeline Golden and Paul Ruff. And at SETC, in addition to Best Production, the show won Best Supporting Actor for Paul Ruff, Best Supporting Actor for Ben Lang (it was a tie!), Outstanding Achievement Scenic Design (set designed by Pattye Archer and Erica Morrison, created by Marty Haug), and Outstanding Backstage Achievement (crew members included Vernell Allen, Mary Ann Jones, Marty Haug, Thomas La Foe, and Luke Manual).
