Middle-of-nowhere Texas comes to wacky, darkly comic life in Greater Tuna, written by Jaston Williams, Ed Howard, and Joe Sears. This broad, side-splitting play takes satirical aim at the off-kilter inhabitants (men, women, children, and animals) of rural Tuna, Texas – pointedly the state's third-smallest town – all played by two actors (Sean Dyess and Paul Ruff) who change characters, voices, and costumes at breakneck speed.
Starkville Community Theatre presented Greater Tuna as its 2024 competition show. At MTA, SCT Best Production and advanced to perform at the Southeastern Theatre Association Conference Festival, held in March in Mobile, Alabama. During MTA, Paul Ruff won Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role, Sean Dyess won Outstanding Achievement in Acting, Chris Harper won Outstanding Costume Design, and Thomas La Foe won Outstanding Technical Achievement and Outstanding Direction. At SETC, Sean won an All Star Cast achievement in acting award.
