With the continued well-being of Starkville Community Theatre's audience members and volunteers in mind, and with live theatres currently closed by government mandate, our Board of Directors has decided to cancel our upcoming run of "The Legend of Georgia McBride", which had been slated to open at the end of May, along with our summer children's workshop "Project P.L.A.Y.", slated for June.
Since theatres are, by their nature, gathering places, we must remain temporarily closed, and we will continue to not host any performances or rehearsals until it is safe to do so, for our performers and our patrons. The loss of these two programs this summer is something that hits us hard.
Parents and young superstars, take heart: "Project P.L.A.Y." has plans to return this winter, with a student play festival in December, so keep your eyes peeled for updates as we have them.
For SCT season-ticket holders whose passes included pre-paid admission to "The Legend of Georgia McBride", SCT offers the following two options: you may either donate the cost of the unused ticket on your pass, or you may claim a refund for it.
If you appreciate and are thankful for what SCT has added to our community for the last 42 years, we encourage you to consider making a gift of the remainder of your season ticket - a relatively small sum for you could make a very large difference for us, especially as our closure period gets longer.
All donations are tax-deductible, and if you would like to request a letter noting your gift to us and its amount, we will be happy to help. For more information or to make a request for a donation or, if required, a refund, please email email@example.com for the fastest response or you can call our office line at 662-323-6855. We ask for your patience as we process your requests, and we also ask that you not visit our box office in person at this time.
As a non-profit organization, SCT depends both on its ability to host live performances and on your generous support. Cancelling show dates, especially at a time when other opportunities to generate income are also cut off, brings very real financial consequences for a community theatre, and we appreciate your consideration and understanding during this increasingly challenging time for us, and for all of you.
We'll be seeing you again as soon as safely possible at the Playhouse on Main. Thank you!
